Yamaha Marketplace Events Show at Mazda Raceway

Yamaha is celebrating its 7th consecutive year as a proud marketing partner of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and most of its activities will take place in the Yamaha Marketplace located in the track infield between turns 5 and 6 at the Raceway.

The Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., is pleased to announce its complete schedule of customer-focused activities for the July 27-29 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.

A popular highlight of the U.S.G.P. weekend is the SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown Presented by Yamalube. The Showdown will include bikes from many of the country’s top Amateur and Professional sportbike builders.

The SSB Custom Showdown is accepting entries until July 17. Fifty entries will be selected to receive passes to the Red Bull Indianapolis U.S. Grand Prix. To register or just check out the bikes, please visit www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/custom_showdown/home.aspx.

A unique part of the Showdown is that customers and fans will choose the overall winners during the Red Bull U.S.G.P. weekend. To see these very cool bikes in person and cast your vote, be sure to visit the SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown in the Yamaha Marketplace.

A favorite for kids and parents alike, Yamaha’s Learn-To-Ride Program will be back for children under the age of 12 to try out a TT-R50 and TT-R110 in a controlled environment, complete with instruction and supervision. Riders of all abilities are encouraged to experience the TT-Rs with their class-leading features such as electric start, automatic-clutch transmissions, and YZ styling. The TT-R Demos will take place Friday through Sunday from 9am to 5pm in the Yamaha Marketplace. Full safety gear is provided, and all riders will receive a complimentary digital photo of their experience.

On Saturday, Bill Dixon will show why he is the three-time reigning XDL Street Freestyle Champion as he takes his YZF-R6 to the famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca course for a high-energy demo full of stoppies, burnouts, and backwards wheelies. Bill will also be conducting demos throughout the weekend in the lakebed area and hosting seminars in the Yamaha Marketplace explaining what it takes to become an XDL Street Freestyle Champion.

Also conducting special seminars throughout the weekend will be Yamaha Champions Riding School instructors Nick Ienatsch and Ken Hill. Nick and Ken can help every level of rider to improve their skills both on the track and the street. Mr. Daytona himself, Scott Russell, might make a surprise appearance to share some of his enormous wealth of knowledge with everyone in attendance.

On Saturday night from 6-7pm, Yamaha and GE Capital welcome Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP riders Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies, along with Monster Energy/Tech 3/Yamaha MotoGP riders Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso, to the stage for a question-and-answer session hosted by popular MotoGP commentators Nick Harris and Gavin Emmett. Fans are encouraged to join in the fun with questions of their own for these MotoGP stars.

On Sunday, don’t miss the chance to say hello to two-time reigning AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike Champion Josh Hayes, along with his Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha teammate Josh Herrin, as well as Tommy Hayden, Cameron Beaubier, and Garrett Gerloff of the Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha team as they greet fans and sign autographs in the Yamaha Marketplace.

Have your photo taken while you strike a pose aboard Ben Spies’ #11 YZR-M1 MotoGP bike. A Yamaha staff member will snap the photo for you, and you’ll receive it as a memento of the fun time you had in the Yamaha Marketplace.

Other attractions in the Yamaha Marketplace include the Star Motorcycles Lounge, the Yamaha Music Demonstration Area where you’ll be able to play a variety of Yamaha musical instruments, the Yamaha Generators Bounce House in the Kid’s Zone, cell phone charging stations, and the Lexus LFA Super Car featuring engine components co-designed by Yamaha.
