Harley-Davidson Q2 on US demand -- profit up 30%

The Harley-Davidson said in the second-quarter earnings rose % 29.7 percent to $247.3 million, or $1.07 per diluted share, compared with $190.6 million, or 81 cents per share, a year earlier.





Revenue rose 14.6 percent to $1.73 billion from $1.51 billion a year earlier.
retail sales of new bikes rose 2.8 percent worldwide, while U.S. unit sales increased 4 percent. U.S. manufacturer said on Wednesday that its production rates would drop in the third and fourth quarter as it makes some changes in its York, Pennsylvania and Kansas City factories to make them more flexible.
