Bajaj Boxer BM100 Ready to Launch in August

Its price of under Rs.50,000 was attractive but its 150cc engine did not deliver the kind of mileage that the Boxer's target buyers expected. The Boxer is essentially a motorcycle designed for the rural public who travel across rough and difficult terrains.

The new Boxer is expected to deliver a mileage of more than 70kmpl. The most important aspect about the new Bajaj Boxer BM 100 however will be its price. The Boxer 100 price is expected to be under Rs.40,000 making it the cheapest bike from Bajaj Auto

India's first made bikes to hit Japan roads

The Country Japan is a market for big bikes and racing motorcycles and within that, the 150 cc segment is emerging.

Yamaha to export bikes from Surajpur plant

Two-wheeler exports from India are nothing new, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor ships products to Africa, Latin America and the Asean countries. However, Yamaha is one of the select few to reach out to developed markets from India, the others being Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield.

In 2011-12, two-wheeler exports from the country grew 27.13% at 1.94 million units compared with 1.53 million units in 2010-11. Bajaj Auto was the largest exporter with 1.26 million units, followed by TVS Motor (2.6 lakh units). India Yamaha Motors was the fourth largest with shipment of 1,29,394 units, a growth of 45%.

Our R15 fits the image not only is it easy to race and manoeuvre, but it could also be an ideal choice for entry-level racing, added Suzuki

Chain less Bikes

Nulla is Italian for nothing. which aptly describes about this this this concept minimalist bike. The most obvious omissions are the spokes of the wheels design look and the familiar bike chain. It’s the lack of hubs and much of the traditional frame which give this design its clean look.

The propulsion system is a direct gear-chain-drive system. A futuristic design which alas still hasn’t improved on bike seat comfort.

Donald reckoned it was time someone built an equivalent machine in the motorcycle industry for those who appreciate attention to detail, superior craftsmanship, performance and exclusivity.

ECOSSE Moto Works was formed with one thing in mind: to create distinctive, purposeful, memorable machines for discerning enthusiasts, and to provide them all in limited quantities.

One of these models the Iconoclast Series which combines a highly engineered chassis, massive torque, sleek lines, exquisite detail and race-bred components.

But all at a price. The engine is a 2-liter, machined from solid billet aluminium, chassis is a 4130 Chrome-moly TIG welded by hand, custom Ohlins, fully adjustable forks and rear shocks, dual 6-piston front brakes with 12 individual brake pads and does 0 to 100 in 2.8 seconds.

In the US its sells for $300,000 and if you wanted to buy it in India, it would come up to 1.6 crore. Now that’s sure to burn a hole in your pocket. To add to the exclusivity, only 11 were built

Hyosung GT250R review

the GT250R’s performance. The new comet’s engine is a 75-degree V-twin unit that is both air and liquid cooled. With a displacement of 249cc, the engine belts out a respectable peak power of 27.6 bhp at 10,000 rpm, a bit more than the Honda CBR 250R and a bit less than the Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

Compared to the other two, the Comet’s engine delivers peak power late in the rev band at about 10,000rpm. Like I have said before, I am sure that the weight of the bike is also a factor. But, essentially, the Comet feels a bit unhurried in the initial acceleration cycle, until the revs cross the 6,000-6,500 rpm level. Power delivery is linear and available like a series of Big ‘Mahraja Macs’ at every 1,000 rpm stop.

The bike clocks a speed of 100 kmph within 10 seconds or so. But the mapping and the fuel injection system could both have been tweaked to improve the machine’s pickup.

The funny bit is that the V-twin engine’s peak torque of 22.07 Nm at 8,000 rpm is pretty much an exact match with the other two competing bikes. So, the amount of pulling power being sent to the rear wheel is effectively the same, at least by the book. Rated top speed is 140 kmph. Racing up to touch speeds of over 120 kms is quite easy though with the GT250R’s quick shifting five-speed gearbox. Only you have to keep the engine at the sweet spot where the power is delivered in quick succession.

‘Stares come standard’ could be the apt advertisement tagline for Hyosung GT250R, the latest offering for the country from the Korean motorcycle maker. It is not meant to be as capable as a serious sports bike and I am guessing that the need to keep its fuel efficiency attractive too might have affected its performance. But, that bit of a compromise does tilt the scales in favour of the competition that has the street cred and brand appeal going for them.

The new Hyosung Comet has been priced at Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). That makes it a bit expensive too. But things could get interesting if the new owners decide to manufacture the bike in India and leverage the cost savings to come up with a killer price tag.

It is an ideal bike for daily commuting and with its tubeless tyres, maintenance free batteries and viscous air filters it is definitely suited for the masses. Prices begin at Rs.44,642 ex showroom Delhi and Rs.48,028 ex showroom Mumbai. The 8.5PS motorcycle is priced at Rs 49592 for the mid variant and Rs 51678 for the top end bike, ex-Mumbai.

TVS Motors plans to launch 200-250 cc high-performance bikes

200-250 cc high-performance bikes going to Launch in 2014-15

Looking at the growing demand for performance-oriented motorcycles in India, other big players in the two wheeler category, like Bajaj and Honda, have already launched a range of high-performance motorcycles. On the other hand, TVS Motors’ absence in this segment is really surprising, given that it made its presence felt with concept motorcycles at every Auto Expo held in the country.TVS Motors has been a subject of criticism by motorcycle enthusiasts for having failed to launch brand new high-performance bikes. In recent times, the only launches made by the company in the premium sports motorcycle category are Apache RTR180 ABS, which was one year back, and the recently facelifted Apache twins, although they did not succeed in luring the customers to showrooms. The company, diverting from its previous trends, is all set to unleash new motorcycles in 2014-15 with engine capacity in the range of 200-250 cc. This is a segment in which the company does not produce motorcycles presently.

The manufacturer has been working in collaboration with engineering firms like AVL and Ricardo for quite a while now to develop higher capacity engines. Though new motorcycles from TVS Motors are set to hit the roads, the launch is two years away, which is a long time from now. By that time, other motorcycle makers might come up with different and better technologies.

TVS has mainly focussed on the high volume commuter motorcycle space instead of high-performance motorcycle, despite the fact that it has a dedicated racing division which focusses only on coming up with new products. The failure to take any bold decision and failing to come up with high performance motorcycles has pushed TVS to the number four spot from number three position. Japanese giant Honda recently replaced it as the third largest manufacturer of motorcycles in India.

The company plans to launch high volume commuter motorcycles in the coming few months. Upcoming motorcycles lined up by the manufacturer include a 125 cc commuter motorcycle that will be available very soon, followed by a new version of the Victor by the end of the year, a brand that it is trying to resurrect. TVS is also emphasising on the automatic scooter segment and will launch a 125 cc, four stroke scooter that will join the ranks of Wego in 2012. It will launch a hybrid scooter called Qube which will be used as a test to see if this segment has any takers in the Indian market.

Therefore, it cannot be said that TVS Motors’ R&D is not working on new products, but sports bike lovers would certainly have to wait a couple of years to get their hands on a high-performance four stroke version of Shogun or Shaolin.
